This allows you to verify system performance and detection accuracy on your hardware. Purchasing a cryptographic license key removes the weekly processing cap and unlocks unlimited processing permanently.
Is Tacit legal to use?
Yes. Tacit is a local, client-side desktop automation utility. It does not host, re-stream, or distribute copyrighted media on external servers. All audio processing, transcript analysis, and file adjustments occur locally on your machine on media files you choose to process for your own private, personal consumption.
How effective is Tacit at ad processing?
Tacit's two-stage detection pipeline is highly effective at identifying both standard commercial breaks and host-read sponsor segments. Because Tacit uses linguistic and semantic AI models to analyze conversational narrative arcs, its processing fidelity scales directly with the intelligence and size of the AI model you choose to connect. Larger, more sophisticated reasoning models offer higher boundary precision and lower false-positive rates on complex, conversational sponsorship reads.
What AI models does Tacit support?
Tacit is built from the ground up as a privacy-first, local application that connects out of the box with locally hosted open-source models (such as Llama 3 running via Ollama) as well as any OpenAI-compatible API endpoints. This local-first design ensures your media and transcripts are processed privately on your own hardware, while giving you the flexibility to connect whichever AI reasoning engine fits your workflow best.
Does Tacit send my podcast audio or personal data to your servers?
Never. Tacit operates on an immutable zero-data, zero-telemetry architecture. Your audio files, generated transcripts, local database records, and execution logs stay 100% on your local computer. Tacit LLC does not track what shows you process, run background usage analytics, or operate central ingestion servers.
How does local validation work without internet access?
License key validation uses an offline cryptographic signature routine (Ed25519). When you purchase a license, our web store signs a cryptographic key uniquely matched to your locally generated Device ID. Once pasted into Tacit, the application verifies this mathematical signature entirely in-process on your computer without reaching out to an online validation server.
What databases does Tacit use?
Tacit utilizes a lightweight, embedded SQLite database that runs entirely in-process on your local machine. It stores your local application settings, processing history, and offline evaluation tier flags without requiring external database installation or cloud connectivity.
What happens if I lose my license key?
Because Tacit collects zero telemetry, requires no user accounts, and maintains no database of email addresses or issued keys, lost license keys cannot be recovered or reissued by the developer. Your key is displayed on screen exactly once following checkout. Please copy and save your key in a secure location (such as a password manager or text backup) immediately upon purchase.
